Common questions

Do fillings hurt?+

We numb the area before starting, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure. You may feel pressure or vibration, but most patients find the process very tolerable. Afterward, some sensitivity is normal for a few days as your tooth adjusts.

How long do fillings last?+

With good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, composite fillings typically last 5-10 years, while amalgam fillings can last 10-15 years or longer. The lifespan depends on the size and location of the filling, as well as your bite and habits.

Can I eat normally after getting a filling?+

With composite fillings, you can eat as soon as the numbness wears off. We recommend starting with softer foods and avoiding very hot or cold items for the first day or two if you experience any sensitivity.
